Just clear English pronunciation is not enough

The average English speaker truly does have a hard time understanding a nonstandard English pronunciation. That’s because when a person learns to speak in a second language, they are using their native language’s sounds and “speech rules” of pronunciation (and often grammar) on their new language. This is what gives them an accent. They are not aware of the English set of “speech rules”.

In order to be better understood learner must practice all of the three main components of English accent: pronunciation of English sounds, intonation and word connections.
